If you want to be part of the Show Shine & Flex Comp – powered by Lucas Creek & Kiwi4WD – at the NZ Fishing, Hunting & 4x4 Expo in Rotorua (22–24 August 2025), we’re looking for builds that represent what overlanding is all about.
They don’t have to be clean. They don’t have to be shiny. But they do need to show well-thought-out, high-quality functionality. We want to see the details – the setup, the mods, and the thinking behind your build. Show us how your rig earns its place in the Show Shine & Flex.
Categories include:
Show & Shine – practicality, ingenuity, and clever setups
Bush Hack – gritty, bush-ready builds that get the job done
Flex Ramp – put your articulation to the test
People’s Choice – voted by the crowd
Entry is $50, spots are limited, and it's application-only – so if you think your 4x4 fits the brief, apply now.
Not quite ready for Show & Shine? No worries. We’ve got a dedicated 4X4 Showcase up area on the nearby golf course (150m away). It’s a bit of a walk to the main venue, but it’s your chance to pull in, park up, and share your rig with other enthusiasts in a dedicated zone.
Whether you're there to compete or just to connect, there's a spot for every kind of 4x4 legend.
It doesn’t matter if you're lining up for flex bragging rights or showcasing a well-thought-out build, we've got a category for you. The Lucas Creek Show + Kiwi4WD Shine & Flex Comp is all about celebrating the different ways people approach their 4x4 setups – from hardcore off-roaders to purpose-built daily drivers.

Flex Comp Categories
These rigs will be tested on our custom ramp and judged on capability and flex across these three categories:
Bush Truck – non-road legal, extreme off-road machines
IFS (Independent Front Suspension) – practical and modified
Coil/Spring – solid axle, coil spring setups (no IFS)
Each Flex Comp category winner will receive:

This one’s all about the full package: practicality, purpose, and good clean mahi.

This is the crowd favourite – judged by the public online or in person.

All Categories Prize Notes:
One prize per entrant to help keep it fair.
If someone wins multiple categories, the top result stands – the next best in line will get the other prize.
Judges’ decisions are final.
